Willamette River
This river is Oregon's heart. The largest cities in the state rest on its banks. It flows through farmland and forest with its source waters high in the Cascade Mountains. The Willamette River connects all Oregonians.
Walk/Bike Path
The Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path System is a collection of interconnected multi-use paved paths running along the Willamette River. The path system has four main trail sections which are the North Bank Path, South Bank Path, East Bank Path and West Bank Path. The two most popular sections are the North Bank and South Bank sections. The North Bank Path passes through Alton Baker Park and winds directly alongside the river and through a riverbank forest. The South Bank Path connects to the University of Oregon and leads towards Skinner Butte Park and the Owen Rose Gardens.
River Fun
Float lazily in the Willamette River at Mt. Pisgah or paddle board down in Alton Baker Park. Rentals available at Oregon Paddle Sports or Oregon River Runners (more convenient to U of O).
Mystical Magical
The Willamette River provides nature's best scenes all along it's banks. Soaring birds of prey fishing, the water inexorably flowing and it's banks festooned with flora of all types. Always an incredible time communing with the Willamette River. Take some time and make sure you feel the true spirit of the PNW.
